Carrot Cake

Dua hari lalu, aku bikin carrot cake untuk ke 2 kalinya, dan kali ini niatnya buat hantaran ke pakdhe. Kebetulan budhe, istrinya pakdhe, lagi kemoterapi; jadi agak susah nyari menu hantaran yang sekiranya budhe boleh makan. Tadinya kepikiran bikin Red Velvet Cake, tapi pewarnanya alamak banyak banget, kalo diganti bit kebetulan di supermarket abis..hiks!

Lalu mama usul buat bikin carrot cake aja, sekalian ngabisin wortel di kulkas (sekalian pengiritan kata mama, hehe)

Aku nyari resep awalnya dari majalah, tapi aku gak gitu suka karena wortelnya gak banyak. Sempet juga liat dari aplikasi "Masak Apa" dari tablet, tapi gak suka juga karena tepungnya lumayan banyak yang dibutuhin. Jangan jangan nanti jadi bakwan wortel, kan gak lucu.


Finally, akhirnya googling dan nemuin resep dari Mommies Daily yang kayaknya ini yang paling enak dibuat. Karena pertama bikin carrot cake-nya aku kasih bubuk pala, sesuai resep dan ternyata buat aku kurang pas, akhirnya bikinan yang ke-2 aku skip aja bubuk palanya. Eh beneran, ternyata cucok di lidah. Untuk frosting-nya aku biking cream cheese frosting. Dan andalan resep cream frostingnya juga dari Joy of Baking kayak punya Mommies Daily, cuma punyaku aku kurangi setengah cup biar gak terlalu eneg.


Carrot Cake (adaptasi dari blog Mommies Daily)


Bahan :


1 cup gula palem

1 cup minyak –> lebih bagus kalo menggunakan canola oil
3 telur ukuran besar
Sejumput garam
1/2 sendok teh Baking Soda
2 cups tepung swamuai (self-raising flour) (kalo gak ada 2 cup tepung + 2 tsp baking powder)
2 cups wortel, diparut halus (sekitar 2-3 wortel ukuran besar)
1/2 cup kacang almond, mede atau kenari, dicincang (aku gak pake)
1 sendok teh bubuk kayumanis
1 sendok teh bubuk pala (aku gak pake)


Cara :



Panaskan oven 180 derajat celcius (kalo aku pake oven tradisional, jadi panasin aja pake api sedang)

Kocok gula dan minyak sampai kental, masukkan telur satu per satu dan kocok selama beberapa menit
Masukkan tepung, baking soda, wortel, kacang, kayumanis dan pala (aku gak pakai kacang sama pala)
Aduk menggunakan sendok kayu sampai semuanya tercampur rata
Tuangkan ke dalam loyang yang sudah diberi mentega, panggang selama kurang lebih 45 menit. Untuk mengecek kematangan bagian dalam, selipkan tusuk gigi di bagian tengah (sampai agak dalam) kue. Kalau begitu diangkat tusuk gigi bersih, kue sudah matang.



Cream Cheese Frosting (Adaptasi dari Joy of Baking)



Bahan :


1/4 cup (57 grams) unsalted butter, suhu ruangan

8 ounces (227 grams) cream cheese, suhu ruangan
2 cups (230 grams) gula halus (aku pake 1,5 cups aja)


1 teaspoon (4 grams) pure vanilla extract
1 teaspoon kulit lemon yang diparut (bagian kuningnya saja, aku tampahin airnya dikit)


Cara :



Cream cheese dikocok sampai lembut, lalu masukkan unsalted butter. Kocok sampai rata.

Masukkan Gula halus, parutan kulit lemon dan air lemon, kocok hingga lembut.




Untuk hiasannya ceritanya mau bikin bentuk wortel pake frosting, tapi gak punya warna orange akhirnya aku kasih warna kuning sama merah, ya jadinya orange pucet gini deh. Bentuknya juga gak terlalu mirip wortel sih, tapi who cares! Yang terpenting kan rasanya :D

Bukan Dinner Biasa (Roasted Chicken)

Udah lumayan lama pengen banget bisa bikin Roasted Chicken gara-gara nonton di TLC, tapi aku lupa pas acara apa. Kayaknya tuh enak, bikinnya gak ribet karena bumbunya cuma tinggal di aduk- aduk aja, kentangnya tinggal dipotong, ayamnya dilumuri bumbu, panggang deh. Dan buat rasa kayaknya menggiurkan, apa lagi makannya pake mix vegetables *drooling. Dan 3 minggu lalu, tepatnya malam minggu tanpa pacar karena emang single (gak usah ketawa!), akhirnya aku putusin untuk bikin roasted chicken. Pertama, aku beli ayam di pasar deket rumah. Kenapa pasar? Karena murah, bisa ditawar, pilihannya banyak, dan yg paling penting gak terlalu besar kayak di supermarket. Karena papa lagi tugas di Bali yang notabene-nya paling banyak ngabisin masakanku, makanya beli yang kecil aja  deh.


Kedua, italian herbs. Ini lumayan masalah karena aku tinggal di Jogja dan susah banget dapetnya. Aku sih pengennya pake rose marry aja karena wanginya cocok banget kalo buat ayam. Tapi sayang gak nemu. Sebenernya sih ada di grocery R&B, tapi karena jauh dari rumah jadi males deh. Yasudah akhirnya aku pake italian herbs seadanya, kebetulan di dapur masih ada oregano, basil, taragon sama parsley. Pancen aku sukanya ngarang, yaudah aku mix aja taragon, oregano, basil sama parsley jadi italian herbs tanpa ada takaran, hehe.

Ketiga dan mungkin terakhir, aku punya oven tradisional, bukan oven gede listrik kece yg watt-nya bisa matiin listrik rumah kalo di pake. Tau oven kotak yang dari alumunium? Nah aku pakai itu. Mama sempet ngusulin pake microwave, tapi kalo pake microwave gak bisa dibuka tutut (karena aku orangnya gak sabaran). Yasudah dengan baca bismillah aku pakai ovenku itu buat bikin roasted chicken. Oh FYI, ovenku ini udah aku pakai dari jaman aku SMP loh, jaman aku suka-sukanya baking.


Oke deh, lanjut! Aku nyontek resep dari Laura Vitale di Youtube. Kebetulan aku nontonnya cuma dua kali, jadi cuma inget prosesnya dan bahannya tanpa tau takarannya. Mau nonton lagi? Ah udah gak sabar buat nungguin batere Tab penuh, hehe. Dengan bekal ingatan seadanya, dibuatlah si Roasted Chicken ini.

Untuk sekarang mungkin aku tulis bahan-bahannya tapi tanpa takaran aja ya, tapi resep setelah ini aku pasti kasih bahan plus langkahnya. Oke sip!

Roasted Chicken

Bahan :

- 1 ekor ayam potong, bersihkan
- italian herbs (aku pake yg kering)
- unsalted butter
- bawang putih parut
- bawang putih utuh
- garam + merica
- bawang bombay
- lemon
- olive oil
- kentang

Kalo kemaren kami makannya pake wortel, kacang polong sama kembang kol yg ditumis bentar terus di kasih garem merica. Kata mas yudha, mama sama reza enak banget dan emang asli enak! Kulitnya tetep garing walaupun pake oven tradisional, tapi dagingnnya lembut dan gurih. Kentangnya juga ikutan gurih karena dipanggang bareng ayam. Bawang bombanya juga enak dimakan bareng ayamnya. Dan serunya, bawang putih utuhnya bisa kita makan, biasanya disebut garlic butter. Bikin nagih pokoknya!

Paris and Bakery

This afternoon, I went to a new cafe at C. Simanjuntak street, Yogyakarta. This place has a unique concept, and also the yummie cake, bread and dessert. Bima, my friend, oredered raisin bread, opera cake and hot americano coffee; and I ordered ice coffee, casper maringue and mille feuilles.And oh gosh, they are sooooo gooood! Nom nom nom :9

Human Interest

Last Thursday I have a good day, since I have a quality time with my girls and watched ten2five performence at Taman Budaya! So yay-ness that I can watch this band in Jogja :D

Hey, I made Sushi!

Yesterday I made sushi with randomly recipes *finally!. I've got the sushi zu recipe from my friend, Ainun; and then I made the sushi rice with my feeling! I just rely my sense, my feeling to make this dish :D

I use botan rice, it's smaller than Indonesian rice

I can not share the recipe because it's secret! Haha no no no, I can not share the recipe because I made the sushi randomly. But someday I promise I will write down the recipe and share it to you *pinky finger :D

My name is Reika!

Last week, I have a quality time with my niece, Kirei. We hung out in Ambarukmo Plaza Mall from 1 pm until 7 pm, it was soooooo long time since she didn't go home. She is a mall kid, I guess :D

So sad that my camera was low battery and I can't take picture more than this..hiks! And for this post, I take the picture from my pocket camera. My DSLR is on service because of my brother. He has got a crash with a jerky motorcycle. Although my DSLR was little bit graze (hiks again), the most important is my brother. He was fine but there was some little wounds on his arm and leg, alhamdulillah :)

I've heard her voice since I was a kindy, I guess. My dad is the person who has familiarized me her songs and my favorite songs are "I Wanna Dance with Somebody" and "Greatest Love of All"..



As a big fan of her, I feel so sad after I heard that she has came back to God. But her spirit, her soul always in the air and her fans in entire world won't forget the woman who is the most talented woman. Rest in Love, Whitney Elizabeth Houston (9 August 1963 - 11 February 2012).

Dating with Mushrooms

After we have studied hard everyday, stay up every night, written so much words for doing the final exam everyday in a couple weeks; should we celebrate it?! And the answer is ABSOLUTELY YES, WE SHOULD! :))
Today, me and my collage girls "celebrate" it at Jejamuran. Jejamuran means variety of mushroom and yes  this restaurant serves mushroom for the special menu. And absolutely yummm :3

Honestly, I have no idea what I will to say in this post. Hehe :p
